Anointing of the Sick
This Sacrament is a sacrament of healing and peace. It is celebrated with those who are elderly, those who are seriously or chronically ill and those who are facing serious surgery.
For those going to hospital, we would ask if you would contact the Parish Office before you are admitted to hospital so we may celebrate the sacrament with you. You may also contact us so a visit to you in hospital can be arranged. State on your hospital form that you are Catholic and wish to be visited by one of our pastoral care staff who visit the hospitals. Both Gold Coast Hospital and Allamanda Private Hospital have our parish contact details.
Nursing homes and hostels in our parish are visited regularly. By contacting the parish office the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick can be arranged for those who may wish or need it.
Likewise, those who are seriously ill at home or are housebound can be visited for the celebration of this sacrament through contacting the parish office.
There are also regular celebrations of this sacrament during Mass. Those who are not hospitalised and are generally mobile but still bear the burden of continuing illness or age are anointed at these times. There is ample advertisement of times of these celebrations in the Parish Weekly Newsletter.
